I left Thursday afternoon for Pete's (brother) in Louisville for a few days. This was my first trip there since last July. We visited my nephews family, went to see Indiana Jones and hung out, but my favorite thing ----we went to Church Hill Downs for the horse races. As you can see by the pictures, we were right on the rail. I didn't know anything about horse racing, but learned a little. I finally decided to put a bet on some of the races. I won twice, but the best was when I picked a horse that was a long shot, just because I like the name. Well, Clearly Foxy wasn't doing too well. so I thought I'd thrown my $2 away, but as they came around the far turn, here she came. As they passed in front of us, Clearly Foxy made a break and went to the front. I was yelling my lungs out. Clearly Foxy won by a head and I collected $19.60 on my $2 bet. Pete bet on the 2 favorites in a exacta to win 1st & 2nd and lost $6. With what I paid to get in, for snacks and betting, I came home with $3.80 more than I spent, so all in all, it was a great afternoon. I hope to go back before summer is over. I've been to Louisville many times since '73, but this is my first time to ever see Church Hill Downs. No matter how old I get, I still enjoy experiencing things I've never done and seeing a little more of this world. The one downside of my trip was the gas prices. Will they ever come down???
